Nice New Field Made For A Good Start To The Playoffs.

With every field that the HBL has taken over this year has either turned into either a big mud puddle or been completely destroyed with 6 to 10 inch divots, they decided to take over a new field Near JP, Rich and Alan's.  Though it was 20 yards shorter than normal, it worked out perfectly since only 8 people showed up to play.  Mainly due to the fact that the temperature was in the low teens. 

The game started out with Blue winning the toss and JP starting out at QB.  Though with everybody still getting used to the cold he was only able to muster one first down before Blue gave the ball to Red on downs.

Red Started their first drive near midfield and it ended two plays later when Steve pulled down the first interception of the game.

JP got back into the saddle at QB and it seemed the entire Blue team had warmed up.  JP moved the ball down the field with slowly and surely.  Then on Fourth down, deep in Red territory, Donnie knocked down a pass to end their drive.  However, it only last 4 plays as Red gave the ball right back to Blue. Unfortunately, Blue's defensive stand only last a couple of plays as Aaron picked off a JP pass on the 1 yard line. 

Red then started their own drive from the 1 yardline.  Manny worked his team down the field.  And then he found Aaron behind coverage and for the first score of the game. 7-0

Interception city began as Blue started a nice drive with Steve at QB.  However it ended at midfield when Aaron picked off his second interception of the game.  A couple of plays into Red's drive and Blue got the ball back as Earl pulled down his first interception.  Unfortunately, Blue was unable to do anything with it and turn the ball back over to Red in 4 downs.  Red then moved the ball swiftly down the field.  But Earl spoiled Red's drive with an interception on the 1 yard line and returned it all the way back for a touchdown tying the score at 7 a piece.

With only a couple of minutes left in the half, but teams got in desperation scores as Eric pulled in a Manny pass for a touchdown and JP hit Rich in the back of the endzone to tie the game back up at 14-14 at the end of the half.

Red started the second half with the ball but only managed to get to mid-field before turning the ball over on downs. Blue started the second half with Steve at QB.  He choreographed a long drive that ended with a 10 yard td pass to JP putting Blue up 14-21

Red started a nice long drive of their own, however it again stalled and turned the ball back over to Blue.  This change was only momentary as Donnie picked off an errant pass by JP. And a couple of plays later Donnie made the blue team pay again, as he scored on a 35 yard pass from Manny tying the game at 21 a piece.

Steve started at QB for Blue, but was unable to get anything started as they turned the ball over after just 4 plays. A couple plays later Manny hit Donnie again for a 10 yard TD 28-21

JP took over at QB for Blue, but it was short lived and Eric picked off hit first attempt, and two plays later, Manny hit Aaron on a 2 yard out and up into the Endzone. 35-21

Rich started at QB for Blue and quickly drove down the field.  In just a few short plays he hit Earl with a 6 yard TD pass - 35-28

Red and Blue then traded TD's again as Aaron scored on a 20 yard pass from Manny, and Rich threw his second touchdown of the game, a 49 yard TD pass to Steve. 42-35

Red started their next drive and got to midfield before it stalled.  Giving the ball back to Blue with only a couple of minutes left and only 1 score down.  Rich took over for the third time at QB.  Unfortunately, Rich was unable to keep the magic flowing as 4 straight plays failed to even accumulate a first down.

With only seconds left in the Game, Donnie picked up the ball, called hike and waited as his team mates ran down the field.  He heaved a final pass.  It floated and fell right into the breadbasket of a streaking Manny.  Unfortunately, it kept right on falling and hit thr ground ending the game.

Red wins  42-35

Did You Notice?

There were 7 total interceptions, and no team had more than 6 TD's.

The only tow people who didn't try their hand at QB were Eric and Aaron

Red scores 3 unanswered TDs at one point
