Red's comeback is stalled on the final drive of the game.10 people showed up for what would be one of the best games of the season. With 4 lead changes, the score being tied at 6 different times and no team ever up by more than one touchdown, the game was extremely close with the defenses for both teams stepping up to the challenge. Blue started off with the ball and Cesar "Mufasa" Galang at quarterback. But after only 5 plays they handed the ball over to Red deep in Blue's territory. And with Manny Mendoza at the helm, Red scored 5 plays later on a 10 pass to Jarrod Tackett putting the score at 7-0. Blue took back over on their own 20 and started to work the ball down the field. Cesar used his favorite weapon, Eric Espejo, from start to finish. He caught the first 6 passes for Blue, included controversial 1 yard TD pass to tied the game at 7. Manny took control again and work his team all the way down the field with short passes to Earl Espejo, Donnie Conty and Shaun Singh. However, the drive stalled 5 yards short of paydirt as the Blue defense stiffened and held fast. Cesar grabbed the con and worked the ball around with precision passing. A short pass to Richard Friend, a long pass to Alan Mendoza, a running play by Eric. Then, at the 50 yard line, Cesar hit Macky Lopez on a sideline pass. Macky juked left, sidestepped Earl and was off to the races. 7-14 Red took over again and started to work their way down the field, but just after a 22 yard run by Manny, Eric pulled down an Interception to give Blue the ball back. However, just one play later, Eric, who took over at QB for Blue, gave the ball right back to Red by throwing an Interception of his own, pulled down by Manny. A couple of plays later, Manny hit Jarrod for an eighteen yard TD pass and tied the score back up at 14 a piece. Eric continued at Quarterback for Blue. He settled them down and methodically drove them down the field. At 18 yards from the endzone, Eric lofted a pass for Rich. Manny stepped in front of it and tried to pull down his second interception of the game. However, he was only able to tip it, and it fell back towards Rich, who was only able to get his finger tips on it before it fell helplessly to the ground. One play later though, Eric hit Cesar in the endzone to put Blue back up by 1 touchdown. 14-21. With only 10 minutes until the half, Red moved the ball rather quickly during their next possession. With only 35 yards yard to go to tie the score back up, Donnie came up with his first score of the game as he caught a pass over the middle, then took off, outrunning all the Blue defenders in true Ricky Williamsesque fashion. This tied the score at 3 touchdowns a piece. With just a couple of minutes left in the half. Blue decided they would try and score before the half. Eric worked the ball down the field with diligence. 5 yard pass here, 10 yard run there. And with just 30 second left in the half, Eric hit Macky for a 5 yard touchdown to put Blue back up by one score. 21-28. After half time, Red started with the ball, and was determined to tied the game back up. They moved the ball down the field, slowly, but surely. However, for the second time in the game, Blue's defense held in the Red Zone as Manny threw an errant pass that was picked off by Rich at the 10 yardline. Cesar took back over at Quarterback for Blue. Unfortunately, it only lasted for a few plays as Donnie intercepted a pass and ran it back 25 yards to the 10 yardline. 3 plays after that, Manny scrambled for 10 yards and the touchdown tying it back up at 28. Cesar stayed in at Quarterback, but was only able to move the Blue team 14 yards before they turned the ball back over to Red. Manny only took 2 plays to seize the opportunity and take the lead back. after a 14 yard pass to Shaun, Manny hit Donnie for a 20 yards and the touchdown. 35-28 Blue was bound and determined not to give let Red's lead stand for long. Though, on the first play from scrimmage, a pass over the middle to Eric jammed his pinky finger. Still hurt and pulling on his finger as he lined up to block, Red prodded Donnie to blitz. Donnie counted to 2, then blitzed. As he chased Cesar to the right, Jarrod came up to help with the tag. As Jarrod got closer, he slipped and fell, missing the tag and smacking his shoulder into Donnie's right knee just as his foot planted, hyperextending it. Cesar ran the rest of the way, 80 yards, untouched. After a couple minute break, Donnie was able to walk off the field under his own power, but he would not return. Eric volunteered as the retator for the remainder of the game due to Donnie's inury. And allo f the sudden Defense took over again. Red threw an interception after on 5 plays. Then Blue wasn't able to get anything going and turned the ball over on downs. Red, with the ball back again, wasn't able to get it together either. 4 plays and out and Blue got the ball back. Blue decided to try and finish the game off. With Eric back in at QB, he steered them towards the goal line. And in a couple of plays he hit Cesar for an 18 yard touchdown. 35-42 Red got the ball back and started their own drive to tie the game back up. Again, short passing moved the ball down the field quickly and easily. Then, 20 yards out, Manny scrambled for his life and scored to tie it back up. 42-42 Getting the ball back, Blue drove again. Eric picked his receievers with care and moved the ball down the field swiftly. Once inside the Red Zone, Blue stepped it up a notch. Eric scrambled to the 2 yard line and on the ensuing play, Eric hit Rich for a touchdown and the lead. 49-42. Red got the ball back with only a couple of minutes left in the game. Manny got his team to work together and they looked to score and send it into over time. Working the ball down the field rather quickly, they got into Blue territory with no problem. Then Blue's defense reared it's ugly head at the perfect time. They held Red and got the ball back on downs. Blue ran out the clock with one final play. Final Score 49-42
