Back To The Mud 1, 2 & 3 - Will The Muddy Games Ever End?The final game of the regular season started where we finished it. At Marshall High School. Playing on the lower field. It was still as muddy as any of the other fields we had played in the last several weeks. Not only that, Geese had taken up residence for a while, so there were goose droppings everywhere. Red started the game off with Manny at the Helm. With short passes here and there, Red drove down the field. Half way to the endzone, Ric pulled his hamstring and took over at QB. After continuing the dink and dunk drive, Ric hit Aaron for a TD and the first score. 7-0 With Eric in command, Blue mounted a long drive. However, close to the endzone, Steve picked off an wayward pass Ric took back over and slowly drove to midfield. Ric then found Aaron behind the defense and it was off to the races time. Red was up 14-0 The rest of the half was played in the trenches. Both teams mounting drives. However, only Red was able to punch it in with a 15 yard pass to Aaron with 10 minutes left in the half. 21-0 10 minutes and a muddy field didn't help the scoring situation as both teams ended the half with drives that stalled. Both Blue and Red started the second half with Interceptions as Macky picked off Cesar and Cesar got the ball back for Blue with an interception of Manny Blue then mounted a nice drive that eneded with Eric tossing a 20 yard TD pass to Donnie for Blue's first score of the game. 21-7 Red was able to do nothing with the ball again and ttuend the ball over to Blue at midfield. A couple of plays later, with Cesar at the Helm, Blue scored again. This time a 35 yard pass to Donnie. Bringing Blue to within 7 points. Defense and the fact that the field had turned into a big puddle of mud and goose droppings resulted in both teams being unable to score any more points over the next 30 minutes of the game. Final, Blue was able to finish their comeback when Cesar dropped a nice pass to Eric who ran it in for the score. 21-21. Red was able to mount a nice drive. But 15 yards from the endzone, Eric pulled down an interception that seemed like a sure catch by Aaron. However, Blue was unable to do anything with the turnover and 5 plays later they gave the ball back to Red. Manny took over and showed flashes of what he had been showing all year. And in two plays, had moved red 20 yards. And the on the 3rd play, he tossed a pass towards Aaron at the goal line. It was initially tipped by Cesar and them fell right back into Aaron's hands. 28-21 With only 2 minutes left, Blue quickly started up the field. Unfortunately, Blue ran out of time during this final drive and was only able to make it to mid-field.

Did You Notice?Red scored 3 straight TDs and then Blue Scored 3 straight. All but one score was made on the far end of the field. Yet again we had QB's intercepting each other on ensuing drives Quotes of the Game:"Oh, I know why! I had two big chocolate bars this morning!" (Eric, on why he was in a bad mood before/during the game) "That's number THREE, baby!!!" (Rich, spiking the ball after playing nearly 100 minutes and getting his 3rd catch) "I don't know what's worse the divots on the Ben Roa field or the goose sh*t on this one." -Eric to Rich at start of the game "Who pissed in your Gatorade this morning?" -Steve to Eric "You're a pussycat!" -Carlos to Ric after they had a confrontation. (This quote was too good to leave out. It's only funny after the fact and it's all in good fun Carlos/Ric) "He's Mackey. He doesn't block." -Aaron's introduction of Mackey to Ric.
Plays of the Game:Eric's interception just as Red looked like they were going to score. Aaron's TD catch just after Cesar tipped it.
