Nothing Like Playing Football In The Snow

At only one point during this game did the Red team lose to the Blue team...rock over scissors.  Red never looked back as the Blue team deferred and chose to play defense and only hoped to contain Red's methodical offense.  It was a seesaw battle that saw the score tied seven different times.  In the end Blue hung on to score the last touchdown and win the game.

Eric took the field as Red's QB with every intention of making the Blue team regret choosing defense first.  But only after a couple plays, Aaron "The Cleaner" snagged an errant pass and gave the Blue team an opportunity to capitalize on Red's mistake.  Unfortunately for Blue it was not to be, as Manny gambled into tight coverage and his pass was tipped several times only to land in the hands of Red's fastest player, Koos.  Luckily for Blue the speedster was stopped before taking the ball all the way for a defensive score.

Feeling a sense of urgency to regain control of the game Eric again was at the helm of Red's offense and struck quickly with a 58 yard bomb to "Crazy Legs" Kovach to take a 7-0 lead over Red.

Blue took over and again stalled at midfield turning the ball over on downs.  Red seeing an opportunity to take a commanding lead quietly drove down the field and Eric found Cesar wide open for an 8 yard touchdown. Red 14 -Blue 0.

Blue's next possession was almost turned into disaster as Steve intercepted Manny's pass intended for Aaron.  However, pass interference was called and Blue was given a second chance. Manny quickly lobbed a pass into the endzone to the league's leading receiver, Aaron, to finally put Blue on the board.  Red 14-Blue 7

After a quick turnover on downs by the Red team, Blue again struck with a 20 yard touchdown pass to Aaron. 14-14.  But that was as close as Blue would ever get to taking the lead on the Red team.  Red again took the field and Eric found Steve for a 15 yard touchdown. Blue, however, held its ground and Manny found Earl "JediMaster" playing another mind trick on his defender (out and up) and found himself running all alone for a 15 yard touchdown.  Red  21 - Blue 21

In a surprising move, Eric deferred his quarterback responsibilities to Cesar who led the Red team down the field which ended in endzone with a long zigzagging run by Steve. Red 28 - Blue 21.

Manny led the Blue team all the way down to Red's 3 yard line only to have their hopes dashed by an interception by Steve.  Red was unable to capitalize as the half expired with Red leading. Red 28- Blue 21.

Running into the locker rooms sideline reporter Leeanne caught up with Red Captain, Eric "My Island" Espejo.  He told her that he was proud of his teams effort in the first half but felt they needed to capitalize on Blue's mistakes and put them away in the second half.  As Blue took the field at the start of the second half, Leeanne attempted to get a few words in with Blue quarterback Manny "Pillsbury" Mendoza.  Unfortunately, all he wanted to do was kiss the reporter and he ran onto the field without any further comment.

The second half started with the Blue team seeking to tie the game their first drive ended successfully with a touchdown pass to Aaron to tie the score at 28.  Not to be outdone, Cesar kept the Red teams momentum going in the second half by finding Eric for 3 yard touchdown to take the lead again. Red 35 - Blue 28.

The seesaw battle continued for the remainder of the game as Blue would valiantly drive down the field and score only to have the defense yield another touchdown to Red.

Manny played quarterback for the remainder of the game and was able to connect with Aaron, Earl and Ric.

Unfortunately for Blue, they were unable to transfer their offensive energy to defense as Cesar countered every punch Blue threw with touchdowns to Steve, Eric and two to Koos.

On Blue's final drive they had the opportunity to send the game into overtime but fell short as Manny's last second pass into the endzone to Earl fell short as the clock expired.

The battle finally ended with a Red win 63-56.

Number for the Game: 353

The amount of yards Ric pulled in as Rotator. It moved him up 8 notches in total receiving yards for the year.

Did You Notice?

Even though it was a snow game, all QB's ended with over a 60% of their passes complete.

Ric ended the game with the most catches and yards ever for a Rotator, but didn't score until there were 8 minutes left in the game.

Neither team ended a drive without a score in the second half, except for the final drive by Blue that ended because time expired.

Manny was the only person to not score a touchdown, though he threw for 8.
