A Tight Game Makes For A Nailbighter Finish

With the cold weather not fully here, the HBL took the field at Centreville Elementary with just nine players and a whole lot of anticipation of the rest of the season.  Orange, with Manny, Ric, Bagby and Aaron, started off with the ball and quickly started the game off on a high note, as Manny hit Rotator Steve for a pass over the middle, who then took it to the house for the first score of the game.  Blue, with Eric, Nick, Cesar and Rich, started their first drive with Eric in at QB.  He quickly drove down the field and capped the brilliant drive with a short pass in the endzone to Nick to tie the game up at a score a piece. 

The teams traded scores as Manny hit Bagby on a great long pass, in which Bagby had to change directions to make the over the shoulder catch.  Eric then ran in for a score on a botched rushing effort by Aaron.  Aaron redeemed himself when Manny hit him in the endzone on Orange's next possession. Rich then scored for Blue on nice pass from Eric. 

Then, one of the weirdest play's in HBL history happened.  Manny hit Steve for a short pass.  Then as he was about to get tagged, he lateralled it back... to Rich.. who was on the other team. a couple of plays later, Aaron bit hard on an Eric pump faked to Cesar, who then easily scored on the real pass.  Nick then pulled in an interception on Orange's next possession. Steve then scored for Blue and then Orange.  And Cesar then scored for Blue to put them back up by 2 scores.  Orange had a chance to pull within 1 score right before the half, but the ball fell harmlessly to the ground in the endzone just as the gun sounded for the half. Blue 42 - Orange 28

The second half started with several changes.  First, Steve was switched to all time defense, The offense was allowed to have no blockers and Cesar took over at QB for Blue.  With the extra person on defense, both teams had troubles moving the ball.  And as the clock ran down for the game Orange found itself down by a score and Blue looking to seal the win with a touchdown.  Ric then pulled in an interception at the 1 yard line to give Orange a ray of hope.  Unfortunately, that ray of hope dimished several plays later when Nick pulled in his second interception of the game and with only 4 minutes left in the game.  Cesar then took his time and moved Blue the 30 yards for the touchdown and sealed the victory.

Blue scored on every drive in the first half.

Steve's crazy lateral to Rich, who was on the opposite team.

There were 10 TD's scored in the first half and only 4 in the second.

Ric & Nick has interceptions on consecutive series.
