Can He Put Blue Past Orange?

Dec. 26, 2003
Game #14

HBL Vanilla I -

On the day after Christmas, the HBL faithful came out to play some football.  Even though it was in the low teens and showed no signs of letting up. Orange started with the ball, but was unable to score.Blue then marched right down the field and put the ball in to go up by a score.

The first half flew by with Defenses stiffening only to give way to long scores.    Close to half time Steve got a handoff from Eric that slipped out of his hands as he came to the line.  It floated in the air right into Aaron's hands.  Then slipped out right out of his hands back into Steve's. Who then scambled for another 10 yards.

The halftime ended with the score Blue 35 - Orange 21

In the Second half, Orange had it's chances to come back.  They came within 7 point with the score 49-42, but Blue was able to pull back into a commanding lead.  Later in the game, with the score 70-56 and Orange looking to pull within 7, JP pulled in an interception that sealed the game, as Blue scored just plays later to take them back up by 21 points with just five minutes to play.

Did You Notice?

Edwin apparently had FIVE touchdowns, although I can't remember more than one of them. Talk about a sleeper!

Eric's had a nice interception off Aaron where he stepped right in front of Rich at the perfect time.

Ric rattled of not one, but two 80 yard TD's

A fourth down pass meant for Edwin, tipped off his hands.. Rich yelled at Ric to knock it down, but it hit Ric in the shoulder and Steve dove and caught it at the last possible moment before it hit the ground for the first down.

Quote of the Games:

Ricky - (to Manny, after Manny didn't throw to him): "You've gotta scan the middle of the field. READ... and REACT."

Ricky - (to Donnie, after Donnie teased that he wanted to hit him on Ricky's touchdown run): "I would've put you on the ground..."

Manny: "Damn--he talks more trash than Macky!" (About Ricky)
