Orange Comes Back In Game 2 With Defense Of It's Own
Whoever said that women can't play football is eating their words at this
very moment. In fact it's "sack-rilegious".
Not since the late Derrick Thomas of the Kansas City Chiefs have we seen such a defensive effort from one player, Sarah Davies. In her first game of the season she not only kept pressure on Blue quarterbacks, she also set the HBL single game sack record with 5. Her constant attack eventually forced Blue to switch to a more mobile passer. Today's game, Orange vs. Blue. Orange was led by Rich Friend who was coming off a stellar performance offensively and defensively from the week before. Blue was led by Eric Espejo who had hoped to carry over his strong performance from the season opener into game 2. The first half defensive rotator was Daniel Ramirez. Orange won the coin toss and deferred giving the ball to Blue to open the first half. That move immediately paid off as Blue could not get the ball past the 50 yard line and turned over the ball on downs on their own side of field. Orange eventually struck first with a 30 yard catch and run from Manny to Steve. Not to be outdone, Eric led Blue back onto the field and struck quickly hitting JP for an 80 yard TD strike. A strong defensive effort in the secondary led Orange throughout the first half with Cesar snagging 2 interceptions and converting them into Orange points. After another interception, this time by Manny, Orange switched quarterbacks to strong armed Cesar who dumped the ball off to Manny for a 5 yard score. At the end of the first half the score was Orange 3, Blue 1. Orange opened the second half with a TD to Ric to go up by 3. But the story of the second half was Sarah. It was evident that her off-season workout program which was created by world renowned trainer James Lindo paid off. She constantly pressured Blue quarterbacks with her bull rushes, spin moves and never quit attitude. Her constant pressure up front against Blue forced Eric to hand off the passing duties to the more mobile JP. The moved paid off as JP led Blue down the field with his arm and legs and eventually found Eric in the endzone to make the score Orange 4, Blue 2. The remainder of the game found Orange firing on all cylinders on offense and defense. Orange only allowed Blue to score 1 more TD while putting up 6 total TDs in the second half with scores from Ric, Manny and Cesar.
Final Score Red 63 - Blue 21

Did You Notice? This was the second week in a row that people were trying to figure out who Daniel was when he walked up to the field. The only people who caught touchdowns for Blue were also the only people to QB for Blue Manny, Eric, Daniel & Cesar have all intercepted a pass in both games. Record of the week - Sarah broke the record for the most sacks in a single game with 5, The previous record was 4, held by Aaron G.. Quote of the Game:
JP-
"That's m' BOY, Blue! Blue, you're m' BOY!
(after his Blue team scored)
Steve -
"Dorito, Rich." (Repeating something he
thought Demetrius said in Game 1, when Rich read a trick play developing.
He actually said "Good read, though, Rich.")
Eric -
"Who the hell is that?! Oh DAMN! That's
DANIEL! (Not recognizing Daniel as he entered the field from the parking
lot.)
JP #2 -
"CORNBREAD!! He put some Cornbread on that
one!" (After Edwin made a nice play)
Aaron -
"I would've been here earlier, but I
got a speeding ticket."
Play of the Game:No Play Of the Week Vote This Week. We Couldn't Come Up With Any That We Remembered. Not That There Weren't Any, We Just Forgot To Braindump The Game afterwards. Our Bad.
